About Us

HeavenWord, Inc., is based in Raleigh, NC. Its president, Scott Musser, is well known in Christian software, having successfully developed and marketed Bible sudy software since 1988. Scott organized some of the most respected Christian software publishers, scholars, and developers to create unique partnerships and innovative products.

A New Direction: In 1997 we formed a new company to focus on new technologies to help people better know and understand the Bible. We design and develop all our software in-house. Our products are home-grown and collaborative work with select partners. In our first three years, we released twenty-four products!

An Audio Bible: The HeavenWord Audio Bible was the first fruits of HeavenWord's development efforts. It's a program for casual Bible readers and more serious Bible students. Why Audio? There is just something special in hearing the Bible read out loud. That's how most of God's people experienced the Scriptures for thousands of years! And, unlike many 'multi-media' products, the 60 hours of the entire Bible is timeless and now available at the click of a mouse. You'll understand and remember more of the Bible with the HeavenWord Audio Bible.

Children's Bible: As a parent of three, Scott was concerned about a lack of substance in Christian children's software. There are a number of predictable stories, such as Noah & the Ark, Jonah & the Whale, complete with dancing pigs and monkeys. But the problem is that most any kid who has ever gone to Sunday school more than a couple of times already knows those stories. So HeavenWord looked for a Children's Bible that offered a broader perspective on the Bible. The HeavenWord Children's Bible, with its 140 Bible Stories (yes, Noah and Jonah are still covered) is designed to fulfil the needs of kids (and parents!) who want and need to know more about what the Bible covers.

Stories for Preachers & Teachers: What started out as a small programming project for another firm soon ballooned into an affordable series of sermon and teaching illustrations. While writing parts of the program, we grew to actually like using it the program. After a few phone calls, HeavenWord was able to line up a diverse and complimentary set of packages for pastors, teachers and other speakers.

HeavenWord Lightning Study Bible: Now the HeavenWord staff is returning to their roots--Bible study software. During their abscence from the Bible program area, we had the time to re-think what Bible software was--and what it could and should be. Working together with Hendrickson Publishers and others, HeavenWord has now released several versions of the new, radically more productive Bible program.

The Future: In addition to these products, the company plans to utilize and develop new software technology for other products to benefit the Christian community.
